What to expect
Classes will emphasize steady breathing techniques coordinated to body movement and also aims to create peace of mind by releasing tension stored in the body. Participants will be shown proper form and modifications for each asana* to ensure that the class is tailored for each individual. Some asanas will be held longer than others in order to train the body to be comfortable in a steady pose. Start the day off with a strong positive attitude and get ready to feel great throughout the day.
Participants should never compete with themselves or others in the class and are asked to always follow their own body cues. Pushing yourself in Yoga will only aggravate the body and frighten it. We want you to come back!
Wear comfortable clothing that will not cause distractions during class. We want to practice being still and comfortable in our bodies.
Mats are optional. The studio is carpeted and often students find they don't need a mat, but decide for yourself. It's YOUR class!
Please bring water. Proper hydration can increase flexibility and decrease discomfort and headaches.
Leave negative thoughts about yourself and others at home! At B Yoga I aim to build a community free of judgment, hate, stress and dis-ease. Come and have fun!

Frequently Asked Questions
I'm not flexible, can I do yoga?
YES!!! I try to tell people all of the time, Yoga is not about how flexible you are or how many poses you can do or whether you can stand on your head. Yoga is about finding peace of mind and creating balance in your life. Increased flexibility is an added benefit from your yoga practice, that will come in time with consistency.
Why do we have to go so slow in class?
Everything we do in today's busy world is fast. We strive to have the fastest cars and computers and are constantly asked my our employers to work faster, be more productive. At yoga we go slow to balance the fast paced lives we live. When we go slow our brain waves also change which is beneficial for many reasons. We are able to think clearer and calmer without panic.
Should I eat before class?
Please try to eat a snack or small meal about 2 hours before class. Practicing on a too full stomach and cause stomach aches and discomfort in asanas*. Practicing on a completely empty stomach can cause the blood sugar to drop too low and participants can feel dizzy or light headed and we don't want anyone passing out!
What if I can't stand on my head?
Luckily, you do not need to stand on your head to practice yoga. As my yoga mentor says "Yoga is not about standing on your head, it's about standing on your own two feet, in balance, in life." Come as you are, and do what you can. With gentle, loving, consistent practice you will be able to move farther into the poses than you ever imagined and eventually, you will learn to move through the pose and realize that the physical practice of yoga is just the beginning. It is more about calming your mind, learning how to not react to stress, and slowing down as you move through life so that you can enjoy each moment to the fullest.
